“Money & Banking” applies basic economic principles to the understanding and analysis of inter-relationships among the various financial markets and foreign exchange markets. The course examines the role of financial institutions, including the Federal Reserve System in the U.S., in the implementation of monetary policies. Specifically, this course focuses on commercial banking, the operation and control of the Federal Reserve System, the monitoring of credit and money circulation, and the effects of monetary policies. The course also will explore the influences of foreign monetary “shocks” on the domestic economy.
