There will be 12 lectures on the various disciplines with a typical crime laboratory. Students will be provided literature articles and preview questions ahead of lectures to stimulate discussions. Special emphasis will be given to chemical analysis topics and procedures. One midterm test will conclude this portion of bi-weekly lectures.
Students will select a topic of interest and prepare an oral presentation for the class.
There will be lab exercises to determine the identity of 10 unknown drug substances using the resources of the Berrien County Forensic Lab. A "take-home" final test will be given.
