Course Description
This course is an introduction and overview of the manner in which behavioral and social factors contribute to health behavior. Its practical and theoretical format helps the student explore a wide range of topics related to the theories of social-behavioral science and to study the core assumptions underlying the development of different social-behavior theory models, as well as their various applications in relation to health behaviors, socio-cultural factors, etiology of disease, and the role of social conditions and social policy in addressing many individual, group, and community public health problems. This includes numerous complex health and social behavior issues and problems which are currently being examined in public health, such as obesity, diet, smoking, alcohol and substance abuse, infectious and chronic diseases, and other global health issues and problems.
